LAZARUS BIBLE FULL
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores. Only the miracle of the feeding of five thousand men is recorded in all four gospels (Matthew 14:15-21 Mark 6:35-44 Luke 9:12-17 John 6:1-14). 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day. Viewers familiar with the Gospel of John immediately recognize this as the moment when Jesus commands the dead man to rise and exit his tomb, crying, “Lazarus, come out!” Yet in many ways-the booth, the mummy wrappings, the magician’s wand-it differs from the account in the Gospel of John ( 11:1–45), incidentally the only canonical gospel in which the raising of Lazarus is recounted. T here are thirty-five miracles recorded in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. He often stayed at the gate of a rich man in hopes of getting scraps from his table. Lazarus was very poor, probably homeless, and definitely a beggar (Luke 16:20). The first Lazarus is the subject of a story told by Jesus (Luke 16:1931). The scene is stunning, even slightly horrifying. There are two men called Lazarus in the Bible.

Nearby, a man holding a wand taps or points at the mummy. An intriguing image frequently appears on the walls of ancient Christian catacombs and on carved reliefs of early Christian tombs-a mummy-like creature emerging from a small booth.
